6 month-old Maya!

Sweet Maya is now 6 months-old. How can that be?

Well she’s getting cuter and stronger as the days go by. She continues to nurse well but we give her some formula in her banana cereal every day because I have not pumped enough to just have handy. I’m making her baby food using the Baby Bullet we got as a gift when Melany was a Baby. Maya has quite the appetite and never disappoints as she eats a lot and all of her food. Towards the end of her 5th month, she started practicing sitting with the help of pillows but now she can sit for minutes without any help.

And great news is she is finally sleeping through the night! Yes!! I love it! She takes a very small nap during the day and will usually sleep from 8:30pm until 7am.  Maya has been sleeping in our room on her bassinet. But, I’m kind of sad she doesn’t fit in her bassinet so we bought her a crib and set it up in her nursery. If she’s sick, she sleeps with us but overall, she’s been sleeping in her new crib. So we are working on decorating it for her with a “under the sea/beach/mermaid” theme. I am doing a lot of the decorations and recently made her a whale blanket, re-upholstered the rocking chair and made a mermaid mobile. I will do another post on the final products/nursery.

We are so happy our Baby is healthy and has not been sick in a month from her previous health issues.

Melany is such a great big Sister. She enjoys helping feed Maya, hands Maya her toys and lets me know if Maya needs my help when she’s crying. I can’t believe how much they look alike!

January/February Happenings

I haven't been able to catch up with the blog lately because we've had a lot going on. But, here are a few things that happened during January/February:
  • Melany started Joy school the last week of January. Joy School is a pre-school homeschooling co-op with families from our ward. The girls are meeting twice a week, learning the ABC's and taking field trips once a month. Every week a different family hosts Joy school at their house. Melany loves it as she really enjoys learning and playing with her friends.
  •  We saw Russell M. Nelson and Lynn G. Robbins speak. Interestly, only those who were born in a Spanish speaking country could attend. It was so neat to hear their talks about loving our family and loving God.
  • We celebrated Enoch's 31st birthday by going to breakfast. Due to his work schedule, we couldn't go to dinner but had pancakes instead.
  • We used our Sea World passses for the first time this year by going on Saturday Feb. 7 to Seaworld. It's wonderful that it's only 5 to 10 minutes away!
  •  I started doing a 21 day fix extreme program which consists of portion controlled, clean eating and extreme exercising. This has made me look at food a little differently as I've had to get creative on different ways to cook healthy meals. I'm done with the 21 days in 4 days!
  • Enoch and Melany worked on the garden(ongoing project). Enoch made a raised bed and planted: carrots, beets, turnips, watermelon, cucumber, lettuce, spinach, kale, basil and parsley. And right next to it he planted pink, white and red roses.
  • Enoch coordinated a volunteer service project with his unit at work at the Asian Festival. We tagged along before his service hours started, walked around the booths and saw a dance/music performance.
  • And last but not least,  on the last day of the month, we went to a special parenting conference where the keynote speaker was Greg Olsen. He talked about how we first must look within ourselves and be nsync with God to be a good parent. He gave anecdotes on his paintings and presented some I hadn't seen before. As an Art lover, I was extremely happy for this event.
