January/February Happenings

I haven't been able to catch up with the blog lately because we've had a lot going on. But, here are a few things that happened during January/February:
  • Melany started Joy school the last week of January. Joy School is a pre-school homeschooling co-op with families from our ward. The girls are meeting twice a week, learning the ABC's and taking field trips once a month. Every week a different family hosts Joy school at their house. Melany loves it as she really enjoys learning and playing with her friends.
  •  We saw Russell M. Nelson and Lynn G. Robbins speak. Interestly, only those who were born in a Spanish speaking country could attend. It was so neat to hear their talks about loving our family and loving God.
  • We celebrated Enoch's 31st birthday by going to breakfast. Due to his work schedule, we couldn't go to dinner but had pancakes instead.
  • We used our Sea World passses for the first time this year by going on Saturday Feb. 7 to Seaworld. It's wonderful that it's only 5 to 10 minutes away!
  •  I started doing a 21 day fix extreme program which consists of portion controlled, clean eating and extreme exercising. This has made me look at food a little differently as I've had to get creative on different ways to cook healthy meals. I'm done with the 21 days in 4 days!
  • Enoch and Melany worked on the garden(ongoing project). Enoch made a raised bed and planted: carrots, beets, turnips, watermelon, cucumber, lettuce, spinach, kale, basil and parsley. And right next to it he planted pink, white and red roses.
  • Enoch coordinated a volunteer service project with his unit at work at the Asian Festival. We tagged along before his service hours started, walked around the booths and saw a dance/music performance.
  • And last but not least,  on the last day of the month, we went to a special parenting conference where the keynote speaker was Greg Olsen. He talked about how we first must look within ourselves and be nsync with God to be a good parent. He gave anecdotes on his paintings and presented some I hadn't seen before. As an Art lover, I was extremely happy for this event.
