Today we went to Dennis the Menace Park located in Monterey. I had no idea this park existed until Enoch talked to me about it. I grew up watching this cartoon and was so surprised when we got to the park on how cool it is! Melany really enjoyed herself. There is a huge old Southern Pacific railroad engine at the entrance and a rock climbing wall. There is also a huge bridge that sways from side to side, two huge wavy green slides on the hill and then run through cement tunnels. On the far end of the park, we got to peek through the fence st Lake El Estero. On our way back to the car we saw a dozen ducks who were not afraid to get close to us!

Mirror..mirror on the wall
It's been so much fun staying at home with Melany this past month. Shes exploring more than ever and the other day she discovered this thing we call "mirror." I was getting ready to start our day and since she kept pulling on my leg to see what I was doing, I placed her on the bathroom counter. She quickly turned herself around and started playing with the mirror. She wasn't too thrilled to see another baby on the other side of the mirror at first, but quickly got used to her and started giggling and kissing the baby. I was enjoying her interactions and thank goodness I was able to capture it on my phone.

Living by the Seaside
| Melany's room(under construction) |
I had a job interview here 2 days after we arrived and am happy to say I got the job right on the spot! The supevirsor said I was great for the job and asked me if I wanted to join their agency. I say "yes" on the spot because I felt this was the perfect job for me now. It is a part-time bilingual social worker position for a company called New Families, Inc. This agency is based in Santa Cruz but I will work with families in Salinas. I say this job is perfect because it is flexible, and part-time which means I get to spend most of my time with Melany. I also get to work in the evenings which means when I'm at work, Enoch can take care of Melany. What a blessing! I'm glad it was the only job I applied to and got!
Oh, and for those wondering about our home, it is 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath. It is a beautiful house and we feel blessed to live in it. We know that little by little, we will fill some of the room with fantastic DIY ideas and decorations. In the mean time, we are enjoying new friends, sandy beaches, lush landscapes, and community events. But more importantly, we are enjoying each others company and feel so glad to be under the same roof as a family again.
