A ferris wheel of a month

Have you ever felt that life is just spinning around you and as much as you'd like to stop it, you can't? That was this month for me. I had to undergo strong experiences that shook my whole being. It all started with issues with my legal status here in the US. This is something I have always struggled with. Something that lurks from behind me and never knowing when its going to strike. For the sake of time all I have to say is that I am finally a permanent resident. Thanks to God and my mother I am able to enjoy the blessings that come from having this status. But getting to this place took many tears, frustrating and unfair experiences that I have to leave in the hands of God. And last but certainly not least, at the end of the month in September I went through one of the most terrible and painful experiences I have ever gone through. I found out on 8/31/09 that I was expecting a child. Wow! we said a baby! We were so thrilled that I didn't know what to do with this happiness. It is something that we believe God wanted us to do. We were preparing mentally, spiritually and moving things in our lives so we could welcome this blessing in to our lives.

However, just like I mentioned, life can be a roller coaster. Sometimes your up in the sky enjoying the view and when you least expect it, boom! You're doing again looking up and at times wondering what happened. Needless to say, I was in shock when the doctor let us know in the ER that I had a threatened miscarriage. I could not believe it. Was this a dream, a joke? As the days went by I started loosing my hope. I started to realize that this dream of becoming a mother was not going to happen this time. I started to ponder on how much I loved mu child and did not want to say "good-bye." I couldn't. It was during those moments that I started to experience a different kind of pain. I wanted to scream, yell, and go crazy. But I couldn't. I have a knowledge of God's plan for all of us and simply decided to place my life and my child's life in His hands. And so after 2 days. I lost my child.
My mother and husband were so supportive. I felt so blessed to have their love because I don't know what I would've done without them. God is a merciful God and he knows why we have to undergo through certain experiences. Placing my trust in the Lord helped me to overcome this great trial in our lives.

Birthday celebration

For my birthday, Enoch took me to San Diego and we stayed at a real old school hotel from the 1940's/1950's era in the downtown area. The night we arrived there we walked around the streets of the city and had a nice Mexican dinner and for dessert, a sundae from the Girardelli chocolate store. The next day we had a delicious breakfast and headed to Balboa Park where we walked to the botanical garden and to Art museums. I was so happy to know my husband took the time to incorporate some of the things I love in love in this trip which are chocolate, gardens, Art, and museums. One of my favorite parts of the trip was being able to see the San Diego temple because we had not been back since our wedding day. We got home just in time to start the "surprise" party Enoch had planned for me. My family and friends were there which made this day, oh so special!

We're here!

Well, we finally got a blog set-up. We are looking forward to sharing with our family and friends some of our adventures and moments that make up our life. I think this is a great opportunity to show my family out of state and out of the country what we do and how we are doing. I love technology:) I hope you all enjoy reading some of the crazy things we do and look forward to hearing from you too. I think its important to give some background on each other and how we met. I was born in a house by the beach in a place called Puerto San Jose in Guatemala. I came to this country when I was four and grew up in Torrance. Enoch was born in the US in Inglewood and grew up in Hawthorne and Torrance.
Some of you have no idea how all of a sudden you got the news that Sonia and Enoch would be getting married. For those of you who don't know how, I will tell you how we met. Enoch and I met at church. It was November 2007 where a mutual friend of ours gave me his number for the purpose of buying a certain kind of tea for my mom. Enoch was working for Sunrider, the company that sold these teas. My mom kept insisting to get her the tea so I called him and we communicated by texting each other questions about the tea. We didn't "talk" until two of our good friends Rosie and Chris decided that same week that we were too shy to talk to each other so they lied to us by saying that we had said we would go dancing. Since Enoch heard I was going to be there, he decided to go and vise a versa At the time I was going to Cal State Northridge finishing up my last semester in college. I really had not time to go dancing because I had midterms to study for. However, my persistent friends convinced me to go and I did. It was at this dance that Enoch and I spoke for the first time. I liked him from the start as a really good friend. He was very down to earth and seemed very wise. We began texting each other and eventually talking on the phone as friends. Our relationship blossomed in to something beautiful. Enoch asked me to be his girlfriend on December 1st , of course he'd like to call it "dating exclusively." We both knew after being with each other for about a 2-3 months we were going to marry each other. I don't know how to explain it, and believe me, at the time I was in shock myself but that's how we felt. However, it was one of the most amazing feelings I have ever felt in my life. The feeling that you have in front of you, your potential husband. So we enjoyed our dating times and we got to know each other's families. On December 6, 2008 Enoch proposed to me in the Los Angeles LDS temple under a lighted tree and surrounded by Christmas lights in the garden. We were engaged for about 4 months and on April 11, 2009 we were sealed in the San Diego temple. I will always remember this important, memorable day. This was the beginning of our life together as eternal companions. Phew! That was a lot I know, but I doubt all the future blogs will be like this one. Today is the last day I work substituting for Enoch at the computer lab so I will not have the time I have now. I am ready to begin my summer since for the past month and some days I have been running around from my full time job in Santa Monica to Redondo Beach. I am exhausted but I know our sacrifice will be well worth it.
